- Elden Ring. The Souls series is very popular. Generally speaking, games don't inspire the creation of entire sub-genres unless they are popular. That means high expectations were riding on Elden Ring, which was supposed to be FromSoftware's refinement of the Souls formula.
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. LEGO-themed action-adventure games are popular. There wouldn't be multiple sub-series based on licensed properties if they weren't.
- Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Main Pokemon games tend to be big sellers. People grumble about this or that issue. At the end of the day, they still rush out to buy these games in droves.
- Horizon Forbidden West. Open-world action RPGs have been hot for some time. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best releases in the genre of recent times.

- Norco. PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac. Arguably the greatest sense of place created this year, Norco, an adventure game set in a sci-fi future version of a real Louisiana town of the same name, is a work of sumptuous atmosphere.
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Nintendo Switch. In a first for Kirby, the Forgotten Land takes our beloved spherical hero to the realms of 3D platforming.

- Horizon: Forbidden West. Post-apocalyptic hunter Alloy returns in this sequel to 2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn. - The Quarry. Supermassive’s spiritual follow-up to Until Dawn is another triumph for horror gaming. Paying homage to the summer camp horror movies of the ‘80s, The Quarry features a group of camp counselors who decide to have one last hurrah before packing it in for the summer—only there’s a curse over the lands and a werewolf prowls the night.
