The main difference is that the original creator of Minecraft made it in Java, but when Microsoft took over, they wanted a cross-platform version so they made Bedrock using the C programming language. Unfortunately if you do buy Bedrock you only get it for the OS device you purchase it for (ie PC, switch, xbox, etc.)
