Jun 27, 2020 · The only way I know to remove the icons is to click on "historical street view," but the only problem is that the restaurant, et cetera might not be present in the historical street view, eg. if the restaurant opened last year and the previous historical street view was in 2017.
Jun 26, 2020 · I wanted a way to make horizontal measurements while on google street view, and the ruler tool appears unavailable. But there's a way, you just have to pretend you're creating a path, and go on the properties box on the measurements part, and you'll have an approximation of this dimension. I cannot tell it's accuracy.

Google Street View was workjing well. All of a sudden, I cannot view anywhere in the world. I just get the standard grey looking icon wherever I click on a map.

You can see some older Street View imagery on Google Maps. Go into Street View then click on the clock icon in upper left hand corner. There's no guarantee that there will be imagery available for the location you want for 2009. I hope that helps.
