In my opinion, Java is better than bedrock, but they both have major pros and cons. If you want to play with friends or family who DONT play on Windows, Mac etc... Then I'd suggest going for bedrock edition. Java has much more features to offer, and is more fluid with gameplay.

I’d say if you are about to play your first game of Minecraft and you are on Windows 10, then it makes sense to play with the Bedrock build. It’s a no-brainer if you already have an RTX card or thinking about upgrading in the near future.
