Luckily, Minecraft is one of the few games that supports cross-platform play (or crossplay), allowing you to play with friends who use a different gaming system. All you need to do is sign in with a Microsoft or Xbox account. This wikiHow article teaches you how to play Minecraft online with friends who play on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS, or Android.
You need a Microsoft or Xbox account to play Minecraft cross-platform, even if you are using a different platform. Sign in with your Microsoft account on the title screen.

The PlayStation 4 version of the game can be installed on a PlayStation 5 and played without issue. The only issue is that the PS4 version will not have compatibility with new features on the DualSense controller.
