This list does not include games with official sales figures; those are located at the list of best-sell.
Nintendo EAD is the developer with the most games in the top 50, with twelve titles on the list, followed by Game Freak with six [a] Pokémon games. The oldest game in the top 50 is Pac-Man, released in May 1980, while the most recent is Hogwarts Legacy, released in February 2023.
The following titles were 2021's top ten best-selling premium games by region (excluding microtransactions and free-to-play titles) on PC and console platforms, for Japan, the United States, and Europe.

This list is also not comprehensive, because player counts are not always publicly available, reliable, or up-to-date.
The list does not include mobile games, unless versions of the game have also been released on non-mobile platforms. Three of the top five most-played video games on this list are published by Tencent.
