Jun 20, 2018 · While creating next app using. npm install next react react-dom --save. .next folder was not created so you need to create the .next folder first using. npm build. which will consist of all your production build files. After npm build the folder will be created and you can run your app using. npm start.
May 10, 2023 · In version 13, Next.js introduced a new App Router built on React Server Components. Means whatever component you will place under the app directory will by default work as a server component. I will suggest to place components inside the /app directory if you wanna render the components on server side.
Dec 12, 2018 · @Karim, I am using similar setup (express + next.js), can you please tell me how to build and deploy next.js app. When run next build command, it generates .next folder. I am not getting if I need to move all my app source (server.js etc.) to production server and run npm start, as my express.js server files are not moving/bundling to .next folder.

If you want to change out directory name then see below. next.js creates the .next directory instead of build. To create custom directory say build, you need to set config in the next.config.js.

This confused me because I'm actively trying to save money for a holiday so I would not be spending this amount at Next as I'm being very stringent at the moment.
