This ultimately fixed it for me, after trying several things including a reinstall and many listed in this thread: Find the game's installation folder. Mine was in C:\XboxGames\Dune- Spice Wars\Content\. But you can find it via the gamepass app if you right-click on the game and browse for files.

Oct 20, 2021 · I FOUND A FIX! Go into Windows Settings> Gaming> Game Mode. Then DISABLE Game Mode. According to Xbox Support, it's used to turn things off in the background. I think this is what's stopping things from launching and running right with the Xbox Game Pass App. Let me know if it works!

I did all the 'fix' mentioned on the internet to no avail: uninstall-reinstall gaming service, repair-reset gaming service and xbox app, etc etc. At this point I basically gave up and resorting to MS Store to install game pass games.
