Jul 28, 2022 · If you’re looking to play with friends, and don’t mind the limited modding tools, Bedrock will be the best version. If you’re looking to get inside of the game, and mess around with every setting possible, or want to challenge yourself with the Hardcore Mode, then you’re going to want to play with the Java Edition.
The answer is a big, resounding NOOO. Sorry, that was louder than I intended. Starting June 7, all players that have either Java Edition or Bedrock Edition will receive the edition they do not currently own for free, right in the Minecraft Launcher. So if you own Java, you’ll get Bedrock – and vice versa.
