  3. Microsoft stupidy defaults the IE version on the 64-bit OSs to the 32-bit version. You need to navigate to the Program Files (not x86) folder and find the 64-bit IE there. Run that, and go to java.com, because Oracle stupidly assumes the only thing you want java for is web browsing.

  6. Sep 6, 2013 · 64-bit java requires a 64-bit CPU and 64-bit OS. 64-bit Win8 Pro (and Enterprise) can access up to 512GB ram, while the cheap version has a 128GB limit, therefore if you have the ram installed you can use it, minus the 1GB for the OS.
