Definitely need to track your own coins per wave/minute to see what’s best for you depending on your upgrades and how you want to play. Until the update yesterday, I was getting way more coins per wave at higher tier, shorter runs, but that of course will require more hands on time.

I use shotgunner for main dps in molten and I place down farms and upgrade to lvl1 then on wave 3 I buy a shotgunner, place down another farm and upgrade it to lvl1 after upgrading your first farm to lvl2, upgrade your shorgunner and place a second one.
