For the bedrock edition, it uses Xbox live on windows, Xbox, playstation, switch, iOS, android. Guess it will just be MS account for macOS, and Linux java versions. Although, there should be no issues adding Xbox live to windows java version. This only changes the account you use to sign in to the MC launcher.
