Cross-platform with Java might just not be feasible, especially on systems like Mobile and Nintendo Switch. Bedrock of course has it's own issues, mainly the lack of various features, bugs with the Switch version, and the frustrating Microsoft Account shenanigans that's like way more complicated than it needs to be.
