Sep 16, 2018 · But the newly published book Pilgrim Spy by ‘Tom Shore’ – a nom de plume – has been dismissed as ‘utter rubbish’ by an officer who commanded the Special Air Service regiment. Some readers have already noted a resemblance between the ‘true story’ of the events in East Berlin in 1989 and the plot of an entirely fictional thriller, Quiller KGB, by author Adam Hall.
Tom Shore, the author of a memoir in which he sets out these claims of derring-do, said that he was unable to provide documents or proof of his claims. His book, Pilgrim Spy: My secret war against Putin, the KGB and the Stasi , which was published this month by Hodder & Stoughton, has provoked accusations of plagiarism and fabrication.
