Clyde Jackson Browne (born October 9, 1948) is an American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and political activist who has sold over 18 million albums in the United States. Emerging as a teenage songwriter in mid-1960s Los Angeles, he had his first successes writing songs for others.

Oct 9, 2023 · He was actually born Clyde Jackson Browne in Germany, one of four kids. But his family moved to Southern California when he was three years old and, for the most part, that’s where he’s lived since.
Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany, where American serviceman father was stationed. Browne moved to the Highland Park district of Los Angeles, California at an early age and soon began singing folk music locally. In 1966, his major career began as a part of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
