How to download Minecraft for PC: Where to buy Minecraft
If you’re a brand new player, then unfortunately, you’ll need to purchase Minecraft before you can enjoy it in all its creative glory. There are two places where you can do this:
•The Microsoft store
•The Minecraft website
Now you have successfully downloaded the Minecraft Launcher and registered your Microsoft account, all that’s left is to download the version of Minecraft that you want.
Unlike the old days, Minecraft Java edition and Bedrock (now known as Windows) edition are a package deal meaning you can’t mess up and accidentally purchase the wrong version. However, there is a difference in which version you install unless you want to install both.

Minecraft: Java Edition is only available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is available on Windows 10 and 11, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile.
Pre-releases are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the pre-release, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab. Pre-releases can corrupt your world, so please make a backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.
