Jun 26, 2023 · I've heard that some erotica authors make money by self-publishing their short stories on Amazon, typically via the Kindle Unlimited program. It's my understanding that anyone with a Kindle Unlimited subscription can view these stories for free, and authors get reimbursed by number of pages read per month.
You can struggle to publish it and barely scrape by publishing it elsewhere, but Amazon is probably the best place for it. Make a decent cover, upload it, put it in KU Select, then write another. Rapid fire is the key. Lots of 3-5k stories priced at.99c, then when you have 5 or so, put a compilation up at $2.99.
