Bouncing in and out of production since its debut in 1999, the hybrid sedan originally appeared as a two-door liftback in its first generation. Revived for its third generation in 2018, the hybrid is now being axed this summer. Honda has said that the Insight will end production in June, with a new Civic hybrid variant taking its place. In 2021, th...

A stalwart of the Latin American and European markets, the EcoSport first made its debut in Brazil in 2003, eventually making it to the U.S. in 2018 well into its second generation. By the end of 2021, the company had sold about 40,000 units, representing an almost 33 percent decrease from the previous year.

Yet another subcompact SUV on the chopping block, the Encore has been the entry-level product in the near-luxury Buick lineup since 2012. That leaves the Encore GX as the marque's smallest vehicle. The company sold about 20,000 units in 2021.

Arriving a year after its Encore cousin, the Chevy Trax has been the smallest SUV of the marque's offerings for almost a decade. General Motors tallied up about 42,000 deliveries of the Trax in 2021. Both the Trax and the Encore saw more than 50 percent decreases in sales when compared to 2020.

This year, a lot of manufacturers are nixing the cars that are meant to draw new customers into the brand. Mercedes is no different, as they're scrapping the A-Class after this year. The move will leave the GLA-Class SUV as the brand's cheapest product in the U.S. The compact luxury car sold poorly last year, with about 8,000 units moved. That's a ...

One of the cheapest cars offered in the U.S. market is also being canceled. First a 1998 production of Daewoo, GM acquired the rights to the car as part of its takeover of the struggling South Korean manufacturer. The hatchback entered its fourth generation in 2015. GM recorded about 24,000 sales of the Spark last year, lagging behind more popular,...

The Italian luxury carmaker's F8 Tributo has only been in production since 2019, but it caught enthusiasts off guard earlier this year when order books were closed. Despite its hand in leading to a banner sales year for Ferrari in 2021, it may not see a return next year. It will certainly be replaced by something very fast, and possibly electric.

After a 27-year run, Toyota's full-size sedan is being discontinued for the U.S. market. The car has served as a flagship product, available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Avalon had decent sales last year, racking up about 19,000 orders. But it pales in comparison to the Camry and Corolla, which sold about 313,000 and 248,000 units,...

The Passat sedan has existed in one way or another in the U.S. market since 1974 in sedan and wagon form, when it was rebadged as the Audi Fox. It was eventually marketed as the Passat starting in 1990. The company announced that it will end its run in North America this year. For 2021, the Passat recorded about 24,000 sales, paling in comparison t...

Honda's premium arm has relied on the ILX sedan as its entry-level option since the 2013 model year, with the first few years offering a mild hybrid setup. The ILX is the brand's worst seller among its quadrant of high-volume vehicles, with about 14,000 leaving dealer lots (though it was up a few percentage points from the previous year. The compan...
