    ―Wade Whipple to Knuckles

Wade Whipple is an officer at the police department, the lieutenant deputy of Green Hills, Montana and the captain of the Warriors. Since childhood, Whipple had rivalries with his sister Wanda and was devastated when his father, the famous Pistol Pete Whipple, abandoned him. He was aware of Tom Wachowski and Sonic the Hedgehog during their trip to San Francisco, accidentally revealing their plot to the United States Armed Forces and Doctor Eggman. He later teamed up with Sonic to defeat Robotnik shortly after they arrived in Green Hills and dispersed the crowd once Robotnik was banished. Whipple would later help Sonic and Tails in their investigation on the Master Emerald and how to stop Knuckles the Echidna. He managed to trap Eggman's assistant, Stone, but was humiliated by Eggman, who possessed the power of the Master Emerald.

After getting kicked off his bowling team, the Renegades, Knuckles offered to train him in the ways of the Echidna warrior and together, they headed for Reno, Nevada for Whipple to participate in the Bowling Tournament of Champions. Shortly after making a rest stop at Neon Nightz Lanes to show Knuckles his "battleground," they are then confronted by agents Mason and Willoughby, who are after Knuckles. Whipple assisted Knuckles in his fight against them, but the echidna was tricked at the end as Willoughby used a ring to instantaneously teleport him into an armed box. Shocked at the turn of events, Whipple took one of the powered gloves that the agents left behind and decided to follow them all the way to the IceCap Ski Resort where he then came up with a rescue plan, but soon messed it up once he accidentally powered up the gloves and alerted the two agents inside. After a swift fight between them, Whipple and Knuckles fled the Ski Resort and celebrated their victory at a nearby Burger Shack, developing a strong friendly bond, but soon found out that Whipple has a bounty on his head as they were listening to music.

They decided to stop by the Whipple Residence for safe harbor and Whipple reunited with his mother and sister. After a ruined family dinner, he and his family were ambushed in the middle of the night by bounty hunters, and helped defend the house. The next day, Whipple was kidnapped by his ex-best friend and bounty hunter Jack Sinclair, but after learning about Knuckles' past at the Great Battleground in the Sky, he freed himself from Sinclair's cage and defeated him in a duel, regaining his honor and position in his new team: The Warriors. With their training complete, Whipple, Knuckles, Wendy and Wanda traveled to Reno for the tournament, where Whipple reunited with his father, attempting to reconnect their bond, but was betrayed by his father when he allied himself with the agents, threatening to kill Wendy and Wanda, but Knuckles was able to save them. In the final of the tournament, Whipple was able to score a winning shot with his teammate Susie Barnes, before leaving the stadium to help Knuckles defeat The Buyer and with the victory of the tournament, Whipple and Knuckles returned to Green Hills.

Early Life Green Hills Energy Surge

―Wade Whipple Following the Green Hills Energy Surge, Whipple was placed in charge of phone calls to the department. He called Tom Wachowski, asking him what is going on. After reacting to Wachowski's obvious observation that the power has gone out, Wade pleaded for his aid. Wachowski tells him to take a deep breath, to call Gil for locating the down line and then Zim for getting his generator to the super Q. He immediately forgot Wachowski's instructions as their call ended, thought about the first thing he said, and started relaxing as the incoming calls kept piling on.

    Road Trip to San Francisco

Men in Black―Wade Whipple to Tom Wachowski After Sonic and Tom Wachowski started their road trip to San Francisco, Whipple was interrogated by Ivo Robotnik and his crew at the Green Hills Sheriff's Department, and was told about Wachowski's newly-formed domestic terrorist status. Whipple told them that Wachowski was incapable of creating bombs. Wachowski later used a payphone to call the police station and talked with Whipple, who was still surrounded by the government workers. Robotnik grabbed the phone out of his hand to threaten Wachowski. When the call ended, Robotnik insulted Whipple and left with the rest of his group.

    Skirmish at Green Hills

―Wade Whipple to Ivo Robotnik With the Chase at San Francisco ending at Green Hills, Whipple and the citizens of the town gathered to help Sonic defeat Ivo Robotnik. Whipple held his gun up to Robotnik's Egg-Pod. After Robotnik was sent to the Mushroom Planet, he joked with the townspeople about their odd situation and told them to disperse.

―Wade Whipple and Pistol Pete Whipple

Wade is quite distractible, goofy, and naïve, often overlooking the sarcasm Tom uses while on duty. Likewise, when in crisis-like situations, like the energy surge, he often panics and is too nervous to come up with a plan of action on his own, leaving him to rely on Tom's instructions. Wade also shows nerves in high-danger situations such as when he sees Willoughby and Mason attack, hiding away from them.

When push comes to shove, however, Wade can be an assertive and courageous officer, as demonstrated when he stood up to Dr. Robotnik with his service pistol in order to defend Tom and later when he dispersed the masses that had observed the battle between Sonic and Robotnik. He also shown this when challenging The Buyer and his new mech. Despite his bravery, Wade does not prove to be all that tough, as he is unable to threaten Stone and is frightened when Robotnik teleports away with the power of the Master Emerald.

Under his humorous attitude, Wade hides his childhood traumas due to the poor treatment of his sister Wanda and the abandonment of his father Pete Whipple, something that would affect him in his adulthood, developing an admiration for his father to one day reunite with him and show him his bowling skills. When he reunites with his father, Wade is filled with emotion because he wants to reconnect and be a family again, but he becomes sad when he betrays him, although he manages to overcome that trauma when he faces his father in the final of the Bowling Tournament of Champions, becoming a warrior and champion.

Thanks to Knuckles' advice, Whipple learned how to upscale his bravery and to be more grateful, making amends with his sister. During his trip to the Great Battleground in the Sky, Wade learned about the true strength of a warrior and where it lies, gaining the will to face his former best friend Jack Sinclair and the courage to defeat his father to regain his honor.

Wade also proves to be loyal to his friends, offering Sonic and Tails shelter in his house to investigate the map that Longclaw left for Sonic. Wade proves his point of never betraying a friend when he saves Knuckles from Willoughby and Mason and helping him in any way he can to rescue him from The Buyer.
