  1. "Endless, Nameless" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana, written by vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic, and drummer Dave Grohl. It is the 13th and final song on the band's second studio album, Nevermind, released in September 1991.

  2. Kurt plays in time with the regular drum beat, but he chooses to play those ugly, watery notes which are soaked in chorus. They sound like something you'd hear at a haunted funfair. It's like turning up to a fancy event, dressed in your tuxedo, but covered in mud.

  3. Kurt Cobain, who had already done some crowd surfing, finished the performance by taking a running leap into Dave Grohl's drum kit. He did not stick the landing and dislocated his shoulder.

    • Smells Like Teen Spirit. Kurt later said that when he sat down to pen the track that secured Nirvana their unexpected crossover into the mainstream, he was trying to write “the ultimate pop song”.
    • In Bloom. The band had worked on In Bloom during the Smart Studios sessions with Butch for the mooted second Sub Pop album, which ended up serving as a dry-run for Nevermind.
    • Come As You Are. Though its nagging hookline – ‘And I swear that I don’t have a gun’ – would take on a grim and perhaps unintended meaning in the years following Kurt’s suicide, the lyrics to Come As You Are further demonstrate his penchant for oblique but compelling wordplay.
    • Breed. First recorded for a proposed second album for Sub Pop – sessions which later served as the demos the group sent to major labels – Breed was originally titled Imodium, in tribute to the anti-laxative favoured by Tad Doyle, of Seattle heavies Tad, to combat diarrhoea while touring the UK with Nirvana.
  4. TL;DR: sound cues and the short life of the Endless, Nameless Strat. To me its the most emotional and disturbing track from Nirvana. If the lyrics were stream of consciousness, thats even more disturbing to me.

  5. Sep 24, 1991 · Kurt was so frustrated with their lack of progress that he spontaneously started playing this song and Krist and Dave joined in. The lyrics were made up on the fly.

  7. May 7, 2022 · Nirvana's front-man Kurt Cobain once described Nevermind as an album that was "way too polished" for his taste (and he blamed producer Butch Vig for it). Coming from someone who was friends with integrants of Sonic Youth and the Melvins, this statement made sense.
