At Edwards, you'll hear the mantra "middle of nowhere, 1.5-3 hrs from everywhere". It's true. Driving distance to Las Vegas, National Parks (Sequoia, Redwoods, Death Valley, etc.), snow skiing, beaches, offroading, hiking, and everything Los Angeles provides (concerts, sporting events, touristy stuff, etc.).
The cities and parks around the base are really the best part about being stationed at Edwards. There are a ton of things to do in a 3.5-hour drive range. With that being said...it's a 20-minute drive to the nearest grocery store that isn't the commissary and a 40-minute drive to the closest Walmart/Target.
Just wanted to pop in here and see if you guys had any inputs about living / working as a civilian at Edwards. Is it a good AFB or should I consider else where? Anything would help!
