Visit Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum. The museum is located on the site of the former RAF Dumfries airfield in Heathhall, Dumfries. We are three miles from Dumfries town centre and easily reached by road, by bus or by bike.
The Museum is run by volunteers and houses a large and ever expanding aircraft collection, aero engines and a very impressive display of artefacts and personal histories relating to aviation, past and present. Both civil and military are represented.
Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Group was formed in 1976 with this new hobby at its core, and the group excavated several wrecks in the local area. Before long, the question arose as to what to do with these artefacts that were being recovered, and the nucleus of our museum was born.
