Bridport Museum will be free to visit this week - Tuesday 10 September to Saturday 14 September. Our opening hours are 10am to 4pm. Come along to enjoy the museum, guided historic walks of the town and ropemaking.
Mar 2, 2024 · Bridport’s prosperity came from making netting, cordage and canvas, mainly for the navy. The town’s narrow gardens served as rope and spinning walks. Redevelopment of Bridport Museum. In 2016, the Bridport Museum underwent a significant redevelopment costing £1.3 million. The museum reopened in May 2017, featuring new galleries and displays for visitors to explore. In addition to the new exhibits, repair work on the historic building was also completed during this redevelopment.
