Pretty much every review of banished I have read describes it as difficult and challenging. Since I like difficult games, that sounded perfect for me - but once I bought it and got over making rookie mistakes, nothing seemed to threaten my success, so I am wondering where the challenge is?
Oct 27, 2023 · Banished has some nonintuitive strategies to learn when compared to other games. But, once you learn them, Banished is pretty much a cakewalk in terms of getting a colony going and reaching end-game. It is a "Very Not-Hard Game" to get good at playing well.
A lot of things you have to worry about in this game, the challenge is to keep the right balance. - Hunger (most important)_ --> agriculture, fishing, hunting. - Cold/Freezing (2nd most important) --> logs, firewood. - Clothing --> Get textiles from hunting, then build tailor. - Health --> build herbalist hut.
I pretty much always play on hard, just so I don't have to be restricted to a certain starting area. Map size and type depend on the kind of town I feel like building. At the moment, I'm using just the infinite mines/quarries mod to make a fully self-sufficient town in a large valley map.
