Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Roxbury in Delaware County, New York. The district contains 86 contributing buildings, three contributing sites, three contributing structures, and one contributing object.
Roxbury’s location and high hills made the town strategically important during the Siege of Boston, in 1775-1776. After the battles of Lexington and Concord, the colonists chased the British back to Boston and then encircled Boston from Cambridge to Roxbury. The British were trapped in Boston for almost a year.

Roxbury was a key position during the Revolutionary War (Fort Hill, Boston Neck and all early land traffic to Boston), home to abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison after the Civil War, and the urban expansion of Boston (annexed in 1868).
