Maddie finds an apartment for herself in downtown Baltimore, staging a robbery to collect on the insurance money from her engagement ring once she finds supporting herself financially to be challenging.
While filming, production used the name Flamingo, a reference to the defunct Flamingo Lounge in Baltimore, Maryland, which appears in the novel.
