Holmer Green is named after the manor of Holmer that covered a significant part of the parish of Little Missenden in the medieval period. So the early history of the village is essentially one of people moving out of Little Missenden over the centuries and settling on a large area of heath known as Wycombe Heath or Holmer Heath.
After an unexpectedly long stay in the Premier Division, Holmer Green was demoted to Division One for season 2009-10, despite avoiding the two relegation positions. Work immediately began to regain the “F” Grading required for Step 5 football to return to Watchet Lane.
Holmer Green F.C. was founded in 1908 and started playing in the Chesham & District League. In 1934 the club switched to the Wycombe Combination League, as it was known then. In 1953 the club won its first major trophy – the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup.

With a population of just over 4,000 our Chiltern hill-top village of Holmer Green still retains a very strong village identity and community spirit. The first real glimpse of our village as a whole is through the 1742 map of the Manor of Holmer where we see a very open landscape with ancient woodland on the outskirts.
