Nothing sanji would say to luffy would make him leave. At that point in time, all sanji understood was that zeffs life was in danger and in order to protect his fathers life, he was willing to live a life of pain. Only way he "could" force luffy to leave is by fighting him and hoping that'd convince luffy that he had decided to leave on his own. 5.
Yah then luffy fought a warlord and nearly lost without the help of law. Then the crew was aiming to go take down kaido. So, either Sanji was naive until this point, in his and Luffy's ability. Or, he had a false faith in his captain and their journey. Both of the points hint towards a lack of judgement and character. This does not mean to be a ridicule of Sanji's character. I love Sanji, he is more diverse than most of the crewmates.
