I turned on the fps counter, and noticed that almost every game has huge fps drops, especially in split screen and I rarley see a game that is stable 30 fps. Is the PSClassic not strong enough to handle these games or this is how they ran on the original hardware too?

May 21, 2024 · The PlayStation 1 (PS1) had a standard frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps) for most games. However, some games may have had variations in their frame rates.
So a PS1 copy of Doom, Dark Forces, Test Drive, Need For Speed, Tekken, etc may all able to run at various FPS without interrupting gameplay speed or mechanica, if it's a port. That's why a lot of these PS1, N64, and Dreamcast titles can run at a higher framerate in emulators.

However, some PS1 games managed to achieve 60 FPS through optimization tricks. Hitting that higher rate consistently was challenging due to tech constraints.

Jan 21, 2006 · What FPS rate do PSX games run at? I backed up a copy of a game I had with ePSXe, 'cause it was all scratched and my PS2 can't read PSOne games anymore. I see I can set an FPS between 1 and 200, and choose whether or not to use the limit I set.
