Oct 1, 2019 · Only in season 2 did Preacher really begin to adapt the comic books in earnest. Since then, many of Garth Ennis' original arcs have featured in the Preacher TV show in some capacity, usually after a heavy reworking, but some stories have fallen by the wayside altogether.

- Preacher’s Odin Is Less Offensive. While Odin was still a terrifying villain in Preacher’s TV adaptation, he was less grotesque than his comic counterpart for two reasons.
- Preacher Cut Jesse’s Childhood Friend. While Preacher dropped the character of Billy Bob-Bobbs entirely, this decision was the right call for the show’s creators to make.
- God’s Not Nude In The Preacher TV Show. Unlike his comic counterpart who was never clothed, Preacher’s depiction of God was not nude. This decision was probably the result of censorship; while Preacher never shied away from blasphemous humor, a full-frontal depiction of God himself could have been seen as unnecessarily risqué.
- Cassidy & Jesse Switch Personalities. Since Jesse became more of an antihero in Preacher’s TV adaptation, this meant that another character needed to embody the more heroic side of things.
