Reginald Front-de-Boeuf is a Norman baron who supports Prince John ’s usurpation of the English throne and who is friends with Prior Aymer, Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert, Philip de Malvoisin, Ralph de Vipont, and Hugh de Grantmesnil.
In the tumult after the revelation of Ivanhoe's identity, as the name of the victorious knight spreads throughout the crowd, Prince John and his advisors hurriedly discuss the consequences of his reappearance. One problem is that John has granted Ivanhoe's castle to Sir Reginald Front-de-Boeuf.

Ivanhoe is the story of one of the remaining Anglo-Saxon noble families at a time when the nobility in England was overwhelmingly Norman. It follows the Saxon protagonist, Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, who is out of favour with his father for Sir Wilfred's allegiance to the Norman king Richard the Lionheart.

He and his friends carry most of the group to the Torquilstone, Ivanhoe’s rightful castle, which Prince John has given to Reginald Front-de-Boeuf, but Wamba and Gurth escape. Inside Torquilstone, each member of the party faces peril in the castle.
He is guilty of some truly horrifying crimes. Front-de-Boeuf, Sr. slaughters Cedric's family friend Torquil Wolfganger and his seven sons just so he can take possession of the castle at Torquilstone. He also kidnaps Torquil's daughter Ulrica and keeps her for many years as a sex slave.
