Jeffrey Robert MacDonald (born October 12, 1943) is an American former medical doctor and United States Army captain who was convicted in August 1979 of murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters in February 1970 while serving as an Army Special Forces physician.
Dr MacDonald is treating a young male patient with a knife wound. The patient claims the wound was accidental but there is reason to suspect that it may be the result of an attack. Dr MacDonald has informed the police of the fact that a crime may have been committed but at the patient's insistence, has not disclosed his identity.

MacDonald was convicted of first-degree and two counts of second-degree murder. He was given three life sentences.He was imprisoned at a Federal prison in Maryland. In 2005, the parole board recommended another fifteen years to be served before another parole hearing.
