Collin McKinney (April 17, 1766 – September 9, 1861) was an American surveyor, merchant, politician, lay preacher, and prolific slave owner. [1] He is best known as a figure in the Texas Revolution, as one of the five individuals who drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence and the oldest person to sign it.

A pioneer leader of North Texas and signer of the Texas Declaration Of Independence, Collin McKinney was born in New Jersey, as son of Scottish immigrant parents. In 1780 the family moved to Kentucky and in 1824 McKinney migrated across the Red River and settled near present Texarkana.

Collin McKinney was a deacon at Separate Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. In 1817 he united with the Barton W. Stone Christian Movement, which later became the Christian Church/Disciples of Christ.
