Viscount Gormanston is a title in the Peerage of Ireland created in 1478 and held by the head of the Preston family, which hailed from Lancashire. It is the oldest vicomital title in the British Isles; the holder is Premier Viscount of Ireland.
Jul 29, 2020 · When the 14th viscount died in 1907, the castle and titles passed to his son, also Jenico Preston, as 15th Viscount Gormanston. He too was a Justice for the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Co Meath. During World War I, he was a captain in the Royal Irish Fusiliers.

Aug 8, 2022 · In 1478, his lordship was advanced to a viscountcy, by the title of VISCOUNT GORMANSTON. His lordship sat in the parliament of 1490, and in that of 1493. He was succeeded by his eldest son, WILLIAM, 2nd Viscount, who filled the office of deputy to Sir James Ormonde, Lord Treasurer of Ireland in 1493.
