      • In the fall of 1992, Larson found the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) building, he went inside and thought it was the perfect space for his new musical. He approached the artistic director, James Nicola, with a copy of the script and demo tape for Rent, and it would become the very first musical ever produced by NYTW.
