In Jin Renfeng's room, he finishes learning the Blood Transfusion technique from one of the 3-eyed Cuiyu Leech spirits. He then grins, saying that soon the Dongfang blood and divine Pure Yang Flame will be his.
Meanwhile, Dongfang Qinlan, Dongfang Huaizhu, and an assistant enter a village to defeat some yaoguai. There they meet three Daoists Shi Tang (石堂), Chi Huo (赤霍), and Ximen Chuisha. They insult the Dongfang family name, so young Qinlan challenges Chi Huo to a duel. She is about to scorch Chihuo with her Chunzhi Yangyan, but her elder sister Huaizhu tells her to calm down. The Daoists learn their lesson not to insult the Dongfang Clan.
Turns out that Du Fuzi was behind the poison attack. He overwhelms the Daoists and captures Qinlan, while Huaizhu escapes. Huaizhu wakes up meeting the mysterious masked man with the sword (Wangquan Baye). Together they fly to Nanguo to find where Qinlan is imprisoned. Wangquan Baye and Dongfang Huaizhu infiltrate the camp, defeat the yaoguai, and free Dongfang Qinlan and the other imprisoned Daoists (including the Daoist trio Chi Huo, Shi Tang, Ximen Chuisha). Baye is impressed by Huaizhu's Pure Yang Flame. Baye then confronts the yaoguai king Du Fuzi, saying he is shocked by his devotion to his wife Du Niangzi. Baye spares him from death, but still punishes Du Fuzi for enslaving and imprisoning others by turning him into a spider and trapping him in Du Niangzi's cap.
As the Daoists escape, young Luolan, her panda adviser (Madame Gai 盖老太君), and Huandu Qingtian confront Baye and Qinlan for allegdly bullying the poison spirits of Nanguo (Du Niangzi, Du Fuzi). Qingtian unleashes his Venom Body which overwhelms Huaizhu's Pure Yang Flame. Baye uses her flame to light up his sword and pierce through the Venom Body, but this shatters Baye's sword.
Wangquan Baye uses teleportation seals to summon his three other brothers to help dispel Huandu Qingtian's poison. They first help Qinlan, Huaizhu, and the Daoist trio escape by redirecting the flow of Qi (气 spirit energy) to briefly negate Qingtian's Venom Body. Baye then summons a huge golden Daoist sword to try to pierce through the poison miasm...
Huaizhu, Baye, and the others escape. Luolan then cries, but the panda Madame Gai (盖老太君 Gai Lao Taijun) comforts her. Huandu Qingtian comments on Dongfang and Wangquan's strength and then mentions that Tushan wants to lead a new Spirit Union (妖盟).
Meanwhile, Huaizhu and Baye lay down in the grass, holding hands and looking up at the sky. Qinlan asks all the other Daoists to scram so that the couple Zhuye (HuaiZhu + BaYe) can act lovey-dovey. But before they can, Jin Renfeng appears from the sky, mistaking Baye for preying on Huaizhu. However, Qinlan explains to him that Baye helped save them, and Jin understands. Still, towering over Baye, Jin whispers and warns him not to get too close to the Dongfang Clan. Jin, Huaizhu, Qinlan return to meet the head Dongfang Jiazhu. Meanwhile, Baye holds on to the sword scabbard that Huaizhu gave to him. On it are engraved the words

In a bonus scene, it is revealed that Jin Renfeng secretly sent that assistant to accompany Huaizhu and Qinlan to look out for them. When the assistant was hit by Qingtian's poison, Jin was able to sense it via a tracking spell (千里定位咒) he implanted on the assistant earlier. Jin's girlfriend discovers this, Jin chokes her to death, saying she knew more than she should. After 'taking care' of her, Jin flies to the scene where Huaizhu and Baye were resting.
Jin Renfeng brings the (dead) Cuiyu Xiaotan to some mysterious forest spirit dealers. Meanwhile, he sent a spy to locate Huaizhu. He discovers her in a traditional Chinese boat having some romantic time with Baye.
Huaizhu tells Baye that she is not skilled in the four arts (琴棋书画 music weiqi calligraphy painting), but that her only skill is fighting. She then says that she has a gift to give to Baye. Eavesdropping Jin gets mad.
The Masked Daoists led by Baye travel to the border but meet Tianmen Laoren (天门老人) who erects a towering Sky Gate (天门 Tianmen) to block the Daoists. Baye asks for passage, saying that his group found walls and abysses all around the border from Beishan to Xixiyu to Nanguo and that he wants to see what lies beyond these barriers. Tianmen refuses to let them pass, so the Masked Daoists crush Tianmen and his crew. Baye slices a hole in the Tianmen wall, and he and his team pass through.
Meanwhile, the head of the Dongfang Clan (Huaizhu and Qinlan's father) gets sick. Jin Renfeng disintegrates the medic-servant Qiu Ping (秋萍) and then asks his servant Xiao Lu (小陆) to deliver a special tonic pill mixed with honey and water as 'medicine' to the Dongfang chief. Jin is plotting something and says to himself that once the chief passes away, he will be in total control of the Dongfang family.
After the Masked Daoists went beyond the border, all of them except Baye were killed. This shocks him to the core.
Meanwhile, back in the palace, Jin Renfeng asks Xiao Lu to deliver another two tonic pills to Dongfang Jiazhu (东方家住). After the chief takes these pills he is unable to move. Jin then uses the Blood Transfusion technique he learned from the Leech Spirit and ex-girlfriend Cuiyu Xiaotan to extract the blood of Dongfang Jiazhu, switching it with his own, killing the old sick chief in the process. Jin then gains the blood of the Dongfang Clan, his hair turns white, and he is able to summon the powerful Chunzhi Yangyan. Jin then plans on to marry Huaizhu and Qinlan to fully take over the Dongfang estate.
One of Huaizhu's servants Yu Ping (玉萍) secretly saw Renfeng perform the transfusion and reports to Huaizhu and Qinlan, showing Xiao Lu's teleportation seals as proof. Huaizhu detects Jin's magic on the seal and realizes that he has been using Xiao Lu to follow her. Huaizhu asks Yu Ping to secretly take Qinlan away from the household and says that she will hold off Jin for as long as she can. A few days later, Jin suspects Huaizhu is hiding Qinlan. Jin launches a coup to attack the Dongfang estate, overpowering Huaizhu with his newfound fire abilities.
At her moment of despair, Huaizhu wishes that she could see Baye's true appearance underneath his mask. Then, she suddenly senses the Qi emanating from Baye's sword drawing near.
