San Zeno al Foro is a church in center of the city of Brescia, situated in Piazza del Foro on the Via dei Musei, a few yards from the ruins of the Roman Capitoline temple in the city. A church at the site had been present from the 12th century. The present Baroque structure was completed about 1745.
Originally painted for the Venetian church of San Marziale, Tobias and Archangel Raphael has been the subject of much controversy among critics. In his Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects (1550), the Tuscan artist and historian Giorgio Vasari claims that Titian painted it in 1507.
The painting comes from the church of Santa Caterina in Venice and was attested (by Boschini in 1664) as being on an altar dedicated to the Archangel Raphael on the right-hand side of the church.
Chiesa di San Zeno. The earliest evidence of the Church of San Zeno dates from 1029. In the middle ages it is described as standing in an area known as “alle grotte”, because of ancient ruins used as quarries for building materials. There are also several pieces of Roman masonry built into the walls of this church.

It was restored by Giacomo Bazzani and his sons in 1848, and more recently by the Tamburini family. This small church is in a distant corner of Venice; it is best known for the painted organ doors depicting the Story of Tobias, attributed to the late 18th century vedutista Gianantonio Guardi.
