  2. Jul 6, 2022 · Clearly, at least throughout the series thus far, the Mind Flayer is the most powerful Stranger Things character (or being) by a long shot. While it's hard to know where Vecna ends and the Mind Flayer begins, there is one serious advantage that the Flayer has over the artist formerly known as Henry Creel.

    • Eleven. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is the most gifted test subject at the Hawkins Lab, and most likely the most powerful character on "Stranger Things."
    • Vecna (One) For much of the show's run, the Hawkins Lab's first test subject is thought to be dead, but his psychokinetic powers serve as the inspiration for all the abilities Dr. Brenner develops in his young charges.
    • The Mind Flayer. The Mind Flayer dominates the Upsides Down, exerting ultimate control over all of its creatures. The shadowy version of the villain seen in season 2 appears as a cloud of black smoke that converges to form a giant spider-like creature that looms over Hawkins.
    • Billy Hargrove. Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) rolls into town at the beginning of season 2 and wastes no time in making his mark. The older step-brother of Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink), Billy is a terrifying bully who copes with a lifetime of abuse by spreading his misery to anyone who crosses his path, although his younger sister and her friends are his most frequent targets.

    • Hopper. Hopper is a brick shithouse. He is made of stone, honestly. He’s faced off against BRUTES and lived to tell the tale and survived a Russian prison from hell.
    • Brenner. He might be a borderline pensioner, but Brenner has power in his status. He has a full lab at his disposal, henchmen, scientists, money, resources!

    • Murray Bauman. Sure, Murray might not be your conventional action hero character, but there's no denying that the series' resident conspiracy theorist is a total badass in his own right.
    • Max Mayfield. It's easy to write Max's character off as a brat since she's got one of the more aggressive personalities out of the group of children in the series.
    • Nancy Wheeler. The Nancy Wheeler we leave at the end of Stranger Things 3 is practically a completely different young woman from the Nancy we met way back in the series' pilot.
    • Bob Newby. When Bob was a high school student in Hawkins, he was known as Bob the Brain. But as the second season of Stranger Things showed, even the nerdiest of boys can grow up to be a total unexpected badass.
