However, as much as I love Stellaris, it is the very Paradox game that in my opinion can't be compared to Total War games in general, and that is not only because there is no Total War game set in space.

It's interesting because players are often apprehensive about these, assuming that an unfinished product was deliberately released and content was cut so that it can be sold later.
