    Tang Sanzang (唐三藏, Táng sānzàng?), also known as Tang Monk (唐僧, Tángsēng?) and Tripitaka, is one of the main characters in Journey to the West. He is a Buddhist monk based on the historical monk named Xuanzang.

    The background story of Tang Sanzang is introduced in Chapter 11 (round 11) using a poem of three sentences. The verse basically says that

    2.he has suffered a lot more than the ordinary people would,

    3.his dad is ranked first place in the regional ranking of the national examination,

    4.his grandfather has the position equivalent to the prime minister back in their time.
