- They were bought out in 2011. In 2011, the UFC did what it often does to much of its competition, and bought out Strikeforce. However the UFC actually did something they don't normally do, and they actually let Strikeforce run for the next two years.
- They gave Ronda Rousey her start. Future UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey first got into MMA in 2010 after her Olympic run, and with the UFC not allowing women, there weren't many places to turn.
- Their alliance with EA Sports prompted a massive Dana White beef. In 2009, EA Sports announced an alliance with Strikeforce MMA to use their likeness for the upcoming "EA Sports MMA" title that was coming out the following year, with multiple Strikeforce fighters taking part.
