The Summer of Sangailė (Lithuanian: Sangailės vasara) is a 2015 romantic [1] teen drama film written and directed by Alantė Kavaitė. It was screened in the Panorama section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. [2] The film won the directing award in the dramatic world cinema category at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. [3]
The film tells the story of tormented city teenager Sangaile, a shy 17-year-old who is spending the summer at her wealthy parents’ estate in the countryside. There she meets the self-confident and artsy girl Austé. Guided by this dream-like creature, Sangailé finds her own identity while living her sexual awakening.
