Born in 1938, Maureen Caine received her Bachelors degree in 1959 and her Doctorate in 1969. She was Professor of Sociology at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad. At present she is a Reader in the Sociology of Law and Crime at the School of Law, Birmingham University.
