May 3, 2022 · Magician Marc Spelmann, who made that sensational return to Britain's Got Talent as the mysterious X, gave Ant McPartlin a special gift and is rumoured to be back for a third time.

Marc Spelmann is a magician who reached the Semi-Finals of Series 12 of Britain's Got Talent. He received Ant & Dec's Golden Buzzer.
For his audition, Marc asked a task of four of the show's staff, helped by the other judges. He asked David to choose a colour of crayon, Alesha to choose a random animal from a pack of cards, Amanda to mix up a Rubik's cube randomly, and Simon to circle a word in a book. He then revealed that while knowing the choices beforehand would be considered 'magic', he discovered 'real magic' two years ago. He then played a video on the screen, explaining how his wife had been diagnosed with cancer, and that his daughter had to go through chemotherapy. He then revealed the correct answers to all four of the choices in the video, the word being said by his daughter two years ago. Moved by the performance, Ant & Dec pressed the Golden Buzzer for Marc, sending him straight to the Semi-Finals.
Spelmann began his Semi-Final performance by asking Simon to choose an inspirational quote from a set, David to insert a bookmark twice into his own book Mr. Stink, and Amanda and Alesha to turn to the bookmarked pages of two quote books and choose an author from said page. Marc then asked Simon to read the final word of his quote; this was 'heart', and Simon then opened an envelope containing a picture of a heart. Amanda and Alesha were then asked to name the authors they were thinking of, 'Mahatma Gandhi' and 'John Lennon', both of which were then displayed, in turn, on a canvas containing pre-prepared sections of faces Marc had prepared earlier. Simon remarked that 'magic [felt] too small for [Marc's performance]', with Alesha adding that she felt 'almost entranced' whilst watching Marc's performance. He was sent home after the Judges Vote resorted back to the Public Vote as Gruffydd Wyn had placed second in the earlier public vote.
In 2019, Spelmann returned to the show under the mystery act of X. His act was described as a mystery person with a white mask. X qualified to the Final and as part of the act in the Final, Marc unveiled himself as X much to the surprise of everyone including the judges and Ant & Dec. When X revealed himself as Marc, he showed footage of his daughter Isabella in her cot. A book titled Hope by John Lennon was seen beside her, which may have been a reference to Spelmann's Series 12 Semi-Finals performance.
In early January 2020, he competed on America's Got Talent: The Champions' second series, reaching the Semi-Finals as one of the two winners of the super fan vote. He later competed in the Semi-Finals in early February 2020, but was eliminated due to lack of votes.
In Winter 2020, he returned for the Britain's Got Talent Christmas Spectacular. In his performance he had Ashley place an item in a small Christmas box (His bracelet), David sign the box, and Alesha to take a card with information. He then had Amanda choose a random combination of numbers which flashed on the electronic screen and conduct a phone call on speakerphone. Marc then had Alesha show the information on the card to be the man on the phone 'Christian Nardy', before Nardy was transitioned to a video call. Marc then asked Amanda to pick a random word, before getting Nardy to repeat the word. Marc then headed upon the stage and retrieved his X attire, before asking for a close-up of the electronic screen, and asking the judges not remove their eyes from the screen. Marc then placed the box upon the table, and the box seemingly disappeared, before reappearing with Christian on the video call, after X asked the camera to cut to the video call, and Christian opened the box to reveal Ashley's bracelet. Marc then revealed himself to be Nardy, before X removed his mask upon the stage and revealed himself to be Ant.
Marc was one of ten magicians who performed on The Ultimate Magician. In his performance he recounted his Golden Buzzer story, before having Stephen join him on stage. He then showed Stephen several cards and had him say stop at any card (the ten of hearts), before revealing the card had X printed on the back. He then had several people playing his alias X come onto the stage and asked every judge to write down a word on the electronic screen which resonated with them down, before Penn was tasked with playing a video of Isabella, and Marc and someone dressed as his alias X correctly guessed every judge’s word via the VT. Marc then unmasked himself as the X nearest the judges desk after several people playing X headed onto stage, before Marc returned to the stage to reveal Isabella to have been backstage throughout his performance. Alesha described him as ‘one of the smartest magicians and you also bring so much heart’, with Penn adding 'You certainly made it very clear that compared to what you have [in terms of family] tricks don't matter at all, it was just wonderful'.
•Spelmann is the first act (with the second being Lilliana Clifton) to make it to the Semi-Finals then the Final on two separate series.
•Ironically, both acts would go on to place as Runners-Up in the series wherein they advanced onto the Final.
