The Bone Collector is a 1997 thriller novel by American writer Jeffery Deaver. The book introduces the character of Lincoln Rhyme, a quadriplegic forensic criminalist. It was adapted into a film of the same name in 1999.

In 1998 New York City, forensics expert Lincoln Rhyme is bed-bound after an accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Amelia Donaghy, a newly recruited patrol officer, discovers a mutilated corpse buried at a Civil War -era railroad bed.
In "The Bone Collector," Lincoln Rhyme serves as the protagonist and the main character of the novel. He is a renowned forensic detective who is paralyzed from the neck down due to an accident. Amelia Sachs, also a protagonist, is a young police officer who becomes Rhyme's eyes and ears in the field.
