Janick Robert Gers (/ ˈ j æ n ɪ k ˈ ɡ ɜːr z /; born 27 January 1957) is an English musician who is best known as one of the three guitarists in heavy metal band Iron Maiden since 1990. He initially joined to replace Adrian Smith , but remained in the band after Smith rejoined in 1999.
It is kinda their way of saying "I was there whenn...". Bruce discovered Janick when he did his first solo project, and the timing was right, as Adrian just left the band. Adrian and Dave come from the 60s 70s style of blended blues and jazz into hard rock, Janick comes from 80s, classical arpeggios.

Gers continues to hammer out his speedy movements on the likes of Ghost Of The Navigator and Brave New World to name a couple. But mostly, studio wise at least, when playing solos, Janick opts to stay in very fast mode rather than virtuoso paced mode, (the latter exemplified by the previously mentioned efforts).
