Makoto Iwamatsu (岩松 信, Iwamatsu Makoto, December 10, 1933 – July 21, 2006) was a Japanese-American actor, credited mononymously in almost all of his acting roles as simply Mako (マコ). His career in film, on television, and on stage spanned 5 decades and 165 productions.
Mako Iwamatsu was a talented singer and musician, known for his skill in playing the traditional Japanese instrument, the shamisen. Mako was a pioneer in Asian American representation in Hollywood, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of Asian actors.
