Yvette Marie Stevens (born March 23, 1953), [1] better known by her stage name Chaka Khan (/ ˈʃɑːkə ˈkɑːn / SHAH-kə KAHN), [2] is an American singer. [3] Known as the "Queen of Funk", [4] her career has spanned more than five decades beginning in the early 1970s as the lead vocalist of the funk band Rufus.
