David Shannon (born October 5, 1959) is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. Shannon grew up in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design and now resides in Los Angeles. In 1998, he received the Caldecott Honor for his No, David!.
David Shannon was born in a tiny log cabin with a dirt floor and no windows on the banks of the Missouri River near the corner of 8 th Street and Broadway in New York City. From his bedroom window he could see the Eiffel tower and, on a clear day, the little country of Russia.
