Briggs is one of an elite core of Nashville studio musicians known as "the Nashville Cats" and has been featured in a major exhibition by the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.

David Paul Briggs (born March 16, 1943, in Killen, Alabama, United States) is an American keyboardist, record producer, arranger, composer, and studio owner.
David is recognized as one of the world’s most renowned improvisers. He has taught improvisation techniques at Cambridge University for two decades and, as well as studying with Jean Langlais in Paris (1984-6), has made a huge in-depth study of the improvisations of the late Pierre Cochereau, Organist of Notre-Dame de Paris (1955-84).

David John Briggs (born 1 November 1962) is an English organist and composer. [1] He started his career as a cathedral organist as Assistant Organist at Hereford Cathedral before becoming the organist of Truro and Gloucester Cathedrals.
David Briggs was a struggling musician in Nashville when he received a call to replace Floyd Cramer on a recording session. That session just happened to be for an album titled “How Great Thou Art” for Elvis Presley.
David Briggs is a keyboard musician, publisher, television music director and music arranger. His career began at Tune Records before becoming one of the original rhythm section at FAME Studios. In 1962, Briggs signed with Decca Records, followed by a move to Nashville. He toured with Elvis Presley from 1975 until Elvis’ death in 1977.
